Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) chief, Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami, along with Bhupinder Singh and his team from the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC), visited Poonch today and provided a sum of Rs 5 lakh each to families who lost their loves ones in Pakistani shelling.
The SGPC president was accompanied by Mahant Manjeet Singh, Dera Pramukh of Gurdwara Nangali Sahib Poonch. Advocate Dhami met with the bereaved families and expressed heartfelt condolences. He expressed deep grief over the loss of lives.
As part of their humanitarian mission, the SGPC distributed financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh each to the families of deceased Sikh victims of the shelling. Additional compensation was also announced for those injured in the attacks. Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee Poonch president Narinder Singh and all committee members were also present during the visit.
Later, a significant gathering took place at Gurdwara Singh Sabha Poonch, where Harjinder Singh Dhami, Bhupinder Singh, Mahant Manjeet Singh, and other dignitaries addressed the sikh community. They shared words of strength, unity, and assured continuous support from the SGPC and DSGMC during these testing times.
Following the gathering, the delegation proceeded to Krishna Ghati to inspect the damage to a local Gurdwara affected by the shelling. Later in the day, they headed to Mankote to visit the family of another sikh individual who lost his life in the recent firing incidents.
Talking to the media, the SGPC chief said that they were there to express their grief and to assist the families, with a prayer that this situation may not come to any family. He said that they stand with the sikh minority community in Poonch who have been facing difficult times due to recent Pakistani shelling along the Line of Control.
