Amid ongoing controversy over Sardarji 3, which has yet to release in India due to backlash over casting Pakistani actress Hania Aamir, attention is now shifting to Chal Mera Putt 4, scheduled for a worldwide release on August 1. The film features several Pakistani actors, including comedian Iftikhar Thakur.
The Chal Mera Putt franchise is known for its cross-border cast and light-hearted take on Punjabis living abroad. However, concerns have been raised following Thakur’s provocative comments on a Pakistani talk show after the Pahalgam terror attack, where he issued hostile remarks towards India.
In a later video, Thakur also claimed that Pakistani actors are central to the success of Punjabi films and criticized the idea of boycotting them. In response, writer Rakesh Dhawan, who created the Chal Mera Putt series, dismissed Thakur’s claims and credited the franchise for his popularity. Dhawan stated that although one more film with Thakur will be released due to production investments, he no longer wishes to collaborate with him in the future.
Do you think Chal Mera Putt 4 should be released in India?
