SYNOPSIS– The story of Jora 2 revolves around a man who was a gangster and now he turns into a politician. Flowing in this direction, the movie has a lot of guns, killing and action throughout. It is the second part of the Jora series and shows a lot of flashback from the prequel. Hence. if you haven’t seen the first part you might not relate to the second one as much.
This action packed thriller movie has quite a few high points one of them surely is the acting of the lead actor Deep Sidhu. The strongest link in the movie is the hero himself whose performance takes the simple story a notch higher. Deep’s non dramatic way of acting is quite impressive. He is in the character and his character looks real and relatable. The other strong point of the movie are the dialogues which are penned by Amardeep Singh Gill. Such heavy and prolific dialogues keep one gripped throughout. These dialogues are wonderfully penned and add substance to the movie. In a few scenes one feels that the dialogues are more powerful than the situation created.
The weakest link of the movie is debutante Singga. The singer turned actor couldn’t leave a mark with his performance. The character written for him is strong but he couldn’t deliver as expected. The lead actor being so strong, this one seems to be a weak minor actor in front of him. This is surely not wise casting.
Yaad Grewal has carried the film quite well. He has outdone his role with his natural acting. Mahie Gill has made a come back, though her role confuses us. Her character of a strong headed police officer is controversial bur fail to understand the intention of her character. The act of a few actors like Japji Khaira, Kul Sidhu and few others seemed to be incomplete.
The movie is full of action and killing but still it doesn’t motivate you to pick up guns yourself. Jora 2 in that aspect is something that you can sit back and watch. The action of the movie is quite controlled. But the last scene between Singga and Deep Sidhu seemed unnecessary. The background score of the movie is quite impressive. The costumes of the characters were also good.
The raw location used in the film suited the story. We also so want to mention that the typical Haryanvi dialogues given to veteran actor Guggu Gill need to have subtitles because we couldn’t understand few typical words that he spoke.
Overall, the movie is worth watching. The controlled action- packed drama film is dark yet subtle, it is something that will entertain you. Also, the use of alcohol is very limited in the movie. Whatever was shown is shown in a very decent and necessary way.
Jora 2 is available on KableOne for preview.
