The upcoming Punjabi movie Do Dooni Panj is scheduled for release tomorrow. Produced by Badshah and directed by Harry Bhatti, the movie is being released under the banner of APRA Films and would have Amrit Maan and Isha Rikhi in the lead roles. Other than the lead pair we would watch Karamjit Anmol, Sardar Sohi, Nirmal Rishi and Rana Ranbir playing important characters in the film.
The movie is clashing with two politically hyped Bollywood projects. On the same date, we have Aditya Dhar’s Uri: The Surgical Strike releasing along with Vijay Gutte’s The Accidental Prime Minister. Both the movies are the current hot talk of the town. Either the controversial aspect or the political aspect, both ways, these films have been marketed well and literally, everyone is looking forward to these two big Bollywood releases.
And Punjabi film Do Dooni Panj will be competing with these movies at the box office!
Talking exclusively to GhaintPunjab Badshah shared, “I just knew about Aditya Dhar’s Uri: The Surgical Strike releasing on the same day. I thought that the genre of the movie is quite different from ours and the audience wouldn’t be divided but then when I got to know that The Accidental Prime Minister is also releasing on the same day, it was already too late. We couldn’t take any action as the year is jam-packed with movies releases. I am confident about Do Dooni Panj and I think we have our own audience in the market.
With my fingers crossed, I hope that the footfall isn’t affected by this clash. In a research that we conducted, we saw that people in Punjab have shown great response to the concept we are bringing up. Hope that people turn up on day one and good word is spread through them."
Having a clash with two big Bollywood movies, do you promise ample shows for your Punjabi audience?
White Hill is doing the work on that ground. We have planned it all and I assure that the movie would have ample shows in the theaters.
Your expectations from the movie, as it releases this weekend?
The movie is based on a very unique concept. I have seen that Punjabi audience has grown from the slapstick comedy phase and has a bent towards meaningful yet entertaining movies. We have comedy, emotions, entertainment and a strong message in this movie. Put together the efforts of the team, we hope that this one is loved by the audience.
We hope that the movie gets ample shows and rest remains in the hands of the audience.
