No, not Ranveer Singh's Simmba, this Simba is an Indian Tamil stoner comedy film, written and directed by Arvind Sridhar. The film features Bharath, Premgi Amaren, Swathi Deekshith and the Amritsar born Punjabi actress Bhanu Sri Mehra in the lead roles, while Ramana plays a supporting role.
A mass media graduate from Mumbai, Bhanu Sri has been acting in many other regional films but in the Tamil film industry, Simba happens to be her first. Though the actress feels that the Punjabi industry is very different from the other regional fraternities but it is unique and massive in its own way.
She opts for a project only if the script impresses her and about Simba, the story revolves around a stoner, Mahesh, who meets his neighbor Madhu, played by Bhanushree. Madhu approaches him to look after her dog, named Simba. The story takes a turn as, under the influence of drugs, he confuses Simba for a human being and tries to woo Madhu with Simba’s help.
Bhanu has worked in Punjabi films like Fer Mamla Gadbad Gadbabd, Oh My Pyo and Punjabian Da King but off lately she hasn't been around in p-town for any project. A passionate actress, Mehra is looking for opportunities across all platforms to showcase her talent.
Other Punjabi actresses who are active in regional films down South are Sonam Bajwa, Sonia Maan, Wamiqa Gabbi, to name a few.
