If film making would have been a course and Pollywood would have been a student, then it would have scored most in making biopics. In recent years, Punjabi cinema has left other industries miles behind in the art of making.

So if you are a biopic lover, then Punjab cinema has these five gems for you, that will surely be a treat to your eyes:-

Dakuaan Da Munda 

A masterpiece of the year 2018, Dakuaan Da Munda was based on the life of former Kabaddi player Mintu Gurusaria from Gurusar Jodha village, Muktsar. The movie is directed by Mandeep Benipal and features Dev Kharoud, Jagjeet Sandhu, Sukhdeep Sukh and Pooja Verma in lead characters along with Lucky Dhaliwal and Hardeep Gill. The film depicts his story of self-realization. After 17 years of gang wars and drug addiction, Mintu decided to give it all up and turning a new leaf, decided to pen his story.

Subedar Joginder Singh

This was another movie of the year 2018, which will be remembered for a long time. The film is based on the life and martyrdom of Param Vir Chakra awardee Subedar Joginder Singh. Made in the backdrop of the Sino- Indian war of 1962, the movie was directed by Simerjit Singh while Gippy Grewal played the central character of Subedar Joginder Singh. 

Sajjan Singh Rangroot

The Diljit Dosanjh - Sunanda Sharma starrer movie must be your third preference if you are a biopic lover. The film is based on the battlefield struggles of army officer Sajjan Singh and his troops. Directed by Pankaj Batra, Sajjan Singh was one of the highest-grossing movies of the year 2018.

Rupinder Gandhi

Another name in the list is Rupinder Singh. The 2015 film is based on the life of gangster Rupinder Gandhi, an ordinary college boy who got into the vicious circle of crime and criminals in the wake of circumstances. The titular role was played by actor Dev Kharoud, while Tarn Mann called the shots from the chair of the director.

Shaheed Udham Singh

The list will remain utterly incomplete without this film. A true classic in all respects, Shaheed Udham Singh, was the probably the first biopic ever made in Punjabi. The class apart performance by Raj Babbar in the role of Shaheed Udham Singh is remembered even today. The film traces the journey of Shaheed Udham Singh from the time of Jallianwala Bagh to the killing of General O'Dwyer.
