Legendary singer and Congress MP from Faridkot Mohammad Sadiq, has lost his younger brother Anwar Hussain. The demise of 78-year-old Hussain has left his village in shock. Condolences have been pouring in for the bereaved family.
Hussain, who was suffering from a long term illness, was facing major health issues for the last few days. He breathed his last yesterday.
Who is Mohammad Sadiq?
Sometimes spelled as Sadeeq, Saddiq or Siddiq, is a noted Punjabi singer, actor and politician from East Punjab (Indian Punjab). He is best known for his duets with singer Ranjit Kaur. He tested the political waters by taking parts in Punjab Assembly Elections 2012 as a Congress candidate from Bhadaur and won. He was the Congress party MLA from Bhadaur in Punjab from 2012-17.

Sadiq was born in 1942 in a non-practicing Muslim family, to father Maghar and mother Parsinni Devi, in the village of Rampur (now Ludhiana district) in British Punjab. His uncle was a folk singer who inspired him a lot. In 1947, during the riots, his family had a hard time and left the village and settled at Malerkotla.
He has sung with many female singers of Punjab including Surinder Kaur, Narinder Biba, Rajinder Rajan, Swaran Lata & many others but made a duo with Ranjit Kaur.
