Another Punjabi film, after such a long wait has finally been released and so we are also back with our review! Before aheading towards the review, let me tell you there was a lot of buzz in the theatre for the film and I really liked it’s energy.
STORYLINE:
‘Saunkan Saunkane’ is a story about a couple who couldn’t conceive so they plan to marry the man again but how the story is weaved and what are the ups and downs we’ll discuss further. Also Read : Movie Updates: Films Releasing In May 2022!
PERFORMANCES:
Sargun Mehta : To be honest, after watching the trailer I thought Nimrat Khaira’s performance to be strong enough to overpower Sargun’s character but I am glad that did not happen and Sargun’s character had its own beauty. It had its own innocence, love and jealousy which is very well performed by Sargun. You won’t find any shade of ‘Dhan Kaur’ (Angrej), so this character was solely owned by her.
On the other hand, Nimrat Khaira was seen as a ‘Teekhi Mirch’, youngest in the family. She was totally in her character. The way Nimrat is growing as an actor, it really feels happy and contented to see a Punjabi speaking actress in the Punjabi cinema who can really act well.
Ammy Virk too pulled off his role. His grace didn’t seem to be fading away between these two actresses. He played his role of ‘The man of two women’ with full strength. He mellowed down where it was required. Infact, there were some of the scenes which a ‘macho’ actor would’ve hesitated while performing but Ammy has explored the actor inside him and performed them really well.
I really loved Nirmal Rishi’s work in the film. Right from the beginning to the end, her fake cry, naughtiness, jokes, laughters were all amazing. You will find a connect with the character. She is not playing a ‘typical’ mother in the film.
Looking at Mohini’s superb work, you are sure to get that motherly feel.
Ravinder Mand’s performance will make you laugh despite the fact, he hasn’t done anything funny but you know some charaters are such that they make you laugh no matter what.
MUSIC:
Songs of the film might disappoint you to some extent as they were not in accordance with the sentiments of the film.
REVIEW:
Saunkan Saunkane was a very much hyped film with a lot of popularity. There were a lot of expectations from the film and thankfully it lived up to those expectations. The film was very entertaining which made us laugh throughout. The cute arguments between these two parties were very hilarious that you can’t help burst out laughing. The characters of the story are weaved well with which you can easily relate.
I think all the aspects of this film are very fulfilling. This beautiful story is directed by Amarjit Singh Saron whom we are glad to see back in form. I think after Honsla Rakh, this will be his second big hit.
It is great to see that such a sensitive topic which is not attempted before in the Punjabi cinema is dealt in such a humorous way where none of the aspects are insulted. The credit goes to Amberdeep Singh who has written the story. The dialogues are very well written which stays with you. The film is well-edited but at some point I felt it was dragged a little (at very few points) but it’s bearable because you know whatever is going to come is going to be entertaining.
Costumes were good, simple and sober. Although, the set up of the house reminded me of it already being used in some other film.
However, I was not convinced with the last one minute. I really felt a little offended for Ammy. He gave such a powerful performance that he should’ve not ended that way. The injustice could’ve been avoided by a simple happy ending. Looking at Ammy in the end I was like, ‘Naii yaar..enna vadhiya kamm karke oh eh deserve nahin karde’.
But over and all, I can surely say that it’s a must watch full entertainer for sure. So, you all too should take your family along and enjoy the movie this weekend. The team definitely deserves pat on the back.
