Badshah has finally revealed why he and his former wife, Jasmine Masih, parted ways. In a recent interview, the popular Punjabi singer-rapper stated that their marriage fell apart because Jasmine could not adapt it culturally. He also mentioned that it became very ‘messy’ and that is why they decided to part ways.
“We met online, on Facebook, and then connected via a common friend. We dated for over a year, and then got married,” he told and then added, “It’s important to do your due diligence. It’s important to examine how people can co-exist. Parents are usually right. They asked me if I was sure.”
The ‘DJ Wale Babu’ further mentioned that marriage did not work because of cultural differences. “She was born in London, she grew up there. My parents predicted that there would be problems. And that’s what happened. She could not adapt to the culture, and it got really messy. But both of us tried very hard to make it work,” he said.
“It’s a flawed concept in today’s day and age. Some modifications need to be made. There is a lot of pressure. One should get married only after attaining a certain level of maturity, and after thinking long and hard about it. We get married too early, but of course, there are biological reasons. But you should get married if you’re extremely sure, otherwise you’re disrespecting the institution… To co-exist with someone with an opinion is a full-time job,” he opined.
Badshah and Jasmine parted ways in 2020. They continue to co-parent their daughter Jessemy Grace Masih Singh.
