Zirakpur police have apprehended a 39-year-old man from Delhi, accused of posing as a casting director and sexually assaulting a minor girl by enticing her with promises of film opportunities.
The accused, identified as Khushhal, hails from Rohini, Delhi, but was currently residing in Panchkula. According to ASI Raj Kumar, Khushhal had previously visited Mumbai, where he learned about casting directors and film promotion activities. On returning, he created several social media profiles, impersonating a casting director, and used them to share deceptive posts and approach minor girls with false offers of roles in films and web series.
During the investigation, it was found that he met the mother of one such girl, assuring her of casting opportunities. In one meeting, he allegedly attempted to sexually assault the minor. Based on the mother’s complaint, police filed a case under the POCSO Act along with other relevant sections and arrested him.
Khushhal was presented before a local court, which granted the police three days’ remand. Authorities said they are probing further to ascertain whether more victims were involved and if the accused had any accomplices.
