After several obstacles, actress and MP Kangana Ranaut’s Emergency will be released next year on January 17, 2024. While the actress has received the censor certificate for the same, the Sikh organizations have again launched the protest against the actress.
Despite getting an approval from the Censor Board by chopping out some of the scenes, the Sikh community is still adamant against the film. When the teaser of the film was released earlier this year, not only the Akal Takht Sahib and the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee but also various Sikh organizations had objected the negative portrayal of image of Sikhs in the film.
After this, the release of the film was postponed on September 6. Shiromani Committee spokesperson Harbhajan Singh Wakta said that the Shiromani Committee had written several letters to Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnav and the Chairperson of the Central Board of Film Certification to ban the film. He said that copies of the resolution were also sent to the Punjab government, but no action was taken on it. He said that the Shiromani Committee strongly opposes the release of the film.
