Bollywood actress and Hrithik Roshan’s girlfriend Saba Azad is quite a popular name. She hails from Ludhiana and belongs to a Punjabi family. In an earlier interview, she had revealed that her surname is Grewal however she decided to use Azad as her stage name.
The actress revealed that ‘Azad’ was her grandmother’s pen name and that her name on the passport still reads Saba Grewal. “The name on my passport is Saba Grewal. My father is of Sikh origin and my mother of Muslim, but neither practiced religion nor imposed their opinions upon me. They are atheists. Azad was my nani’s pen name. I liked the sound of it and the meaning of course. The want for freedom is the most human instinct. So I adopted it as my stage name,” Saba Azad had shared.
Brought up in Delhi, Saba had also shared that she comes from a family of academics and artists. “We had a very normal middle-class upbringing with a lot of cultural exposure. Theatre, cinema, dance, and music were a big part of my growing years,” she further added.
