Diljit Dosanjh recently performed in Canada and the USA as a part of his musical tour. Days after, the globally popular singer-actor was accused of not paying his background dancers.
An LA-based entrepreneur, Rajat Batta, took to his Instagram handle and called out the ‘Lover’ singer for not paying his background dancers. He mentioned that even though he is very proud of Diljit and his works, it is disheartening to see that he does not pay dancers.
Batta called it disappointing and shared that “Desi Dancers are still undervalued as an industry. All the Desi Dancers in Diljit’s Diluminati Tour were not paid, and just expected to perform for free.”

Minutes later, Diljit’s team reacted to the claims and called it a “priceless opportunity” to showcase “Punjabi culture on a global stage.” “Each performance is a tribute to our virsa, preserving the pure folk bhangra traditions we hold dear. Sharing our art form on such a prestigious platform is an invaluable reward in itself,” the post signed by “All The Bhangra Teams & Captains”, read.
The Bhangra team then asked Rajat not to stand for them if he is not aware of the entire situation and added, “While we appreciate the concern, we do not wish to be represented by the voices who don’t understand our relationship, our motivations, sacrifices, and the immense value we place on such experiences. We are proud of our participation and the new avenues it has opened for the Punjabi community. Do not try to break our bond. We stand united.”
