Infamous gangster Dilpreet Singh Dahan, alias Dilpreet Baba has been acquitted by a local court in a case involving possession of arms and drugs. The police failed to substantiate their claims regarding recovery of weapons and drugs, leading to Baba’s acquittal.
The verdict was pronounced by additional district and sessions judge Harsimranjit Singh, who granted the accused the “benefit of doubt” due to insufficient evidence supporting the alleged recoveries.
Advocate C S Bawa, representing Dilpreet Baba, argued that the recoveries mentioned in the chargesheet were fabricated and could not be proven in court.
Dilpreet Baba, a notorious gangster, was arrested in June 2018 from ISBT-43 after a joint operation by Punjab and Chandigarh police. Police claimed that he was injured while trying to escape, sustaining bullet wounds in his leg before being admitted in PGIMER for treatment. Subsequently, Baba was booked under the Arms Act and in an attempt to murder case in Mohali.
Following his arrest, police searched his residence in Sector 38 where they claimed to have recovered drugs. Additionally, firearms and ammunition were allegedly recovered from the car in which he was travelling at the time of his encounter. However, police failed to provide conclusive evidence linking Baba to these recoveries.
For the unversed, Dipreet Baba grabbed a lot of eyeballs after he attacked Parmish Verma back in 2018 in Chandigarh.
