The year 2020 has been an unforgettable year with the human race witnessing one of the most mysterious pandemic, COVID-19, that shook the human race & the pandemic hit the entire world brutally to its core. Not just the economy of the countries suffered but above all, the health facilities were also severely affected. Lockdown became the need of the hour, Outpatient Departments (OPDs) of most hospitals were not operational and according to a report, initially only 1 bed was available for 1700 patients thereby creating acute shortage of it. While the government agencies both at centre & state levels were working extensively, they too were restricted owing to multiple challenges. Keeping all such limitations and problems under consideration, Prabh Asra Charitable Medical Seva Centre took their services a step further to strengthen the fight against the pandemic in Punjab.
The medical service center, founded by Mr. Shamsher Singh and Bibi Rajinder Kaur is situated in Kurali (SAS Nagar, Mohali). It has been working towards the welfare of orphan children, ill, abandoned children, old aged people and several needy people. The trust was made of around 35 crores from the charity by the contribution of general public. Now, in the latest developments they have started their hospital and provision of medicines and at a very low price for the poor and needy people. In an interview, Bibi Rajinder Kaur said, “We are trying to serve the humanity because OPD’s are still closed in several hospitals and a lot of people had to suffer only because of the treatment constraint. So, we had to start it during Covid only. We are trying to fulfill the needs of the people.” “We have started the Ambulance services and we are trying to start operation theatres, labor rooms and gynae department. Apart from that we are looking for doctors for orthopedics, neurology and several departments etc.”, she further added.
