A video of popular comedian and TV Host Bharti Singh has been going viral on social media where she can be seen allegedly mocking men with beards. In the old video that went viral, Bharti said, “Beard-moustache has many benefits; drink milk and put some of the beard in your mouth, it will taste nothing less than Seviyaan [dessert].” Furthermore, she also talked about men having lice in their beards.

As soon as the clip went viral, many accused Bharti Singh of disrespecting Sikh community and hurting religious sentiments with her jokes about moustaches and beards following which many Sikh groups even protested against the comedian in Amritsar. Not only this, Punjabi singer Babbu Maan also bashed the comedian during his live show and stated that a woman has made certain derogatory remarks regarding the Sikh’s beard and moustache. “Come meet in person, then we'll tell you who Sikh is. Even I say I am a Sikh but it is very hard to become one”, he said.

After facing a backlash from the audience, Bharti shared a video on her social media handle to apologise to everyone. In the video she said, “There’s a video that’s been going viral from the last 3 to 4 days claiming that I have made fun of ‘daadi-mooch’. I have seen the video repeatedly and requested people to watch it too as I have not said anything against any religion or caste. I didn’t mock any Punjabi or what problems happen when you keep ‘daadi mooch’,” she said.

“I was doing comedy with my friend but if it has hurt the sentiments of any section, I apologise with folded hands. I am a Punjabi myself; I was born in Amritsar and I'd always respect it. I am a proud Punjabi, too.” Also Read : Saunkan Saunkane Box Office Collection – May 14
