Yet another Punjabi making the mark on pedestal and making the entire community. Harpreet Singh, a former fencing champion from Punjab has become the face of Public Transport Victoria’s campaign. It was owing to financial hardships that he decided to relocate to Australia.
Public Transport Victoria’s campaign showcases Singh’s inspiring life journey from sporting glory to everyday hero through embroidered images on his vest. While speaking to a news portal based in Australia, Harpreet talking about his successful fencing career in Punjab, India talked about the challenges of limited opportunities post his athletic career, which compelled him to move to Australia for his livelihood.
“I was not valued as a player. I wanted to compete further, but I had to leave the game when I was 22, around the time other athletes would peak in their careers,” he recalled, revealing the circumstances that led him to relocate to Australia for his livelihood.
