GhaintPunjab: Hello, Harpreet ji, thank you for joining us today. Let’s delve into your fascinating journey starting from your iconic role in “Laung Da Lishkara.”
1. How did you land the role of Peeto in “Laung Da Lishkara”?
Harpreet: Well, it was quite unexpected, actually. I was studying in Chandigarh when Mr. and Mrs. Tiwana spotted me through their friend, my professor. Mrs. Tiwana felt I was the perfect fit for the role of Peeto, and they approached me for the film. I was thrilled at the opportunity.

2. What was your parents’ reaction to your decision to act in the film?
Harpreet: Initially, they were quite against it. But with some persuasion from Mrs. Tiwana and my promise not to pursue acting as a career, they reluctantly agreed.
3. How was your experience working on “Laung Da Lishkara”?
Harpreet: It was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Working under the direction of Harpal Tiwana and alongside legends like Raj Babbar, Gurdas Mann, Mehar Mittal, and Om Puri was a dream come true. I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of it.
4. “Laung Da Lishkara” was a huge success, yet you chose not to pursue acting further. Can you elaborate on that decision?
Harpreet: While I did receive offers after the success of the film, I had promised my parents that I would only do this one film. When Harpal Tiwana wanted to cast me again for his next project, the producers were interested, but he respected my decision not to continue acting.
5. What was life like after “Laung Da Lishkara”?
Harpreet: Life became a bit surreal after the film’s release. I was still studying at the time, and the attention was overwhelming. Even simple tasks like shopping became amusingly challenging. After marriage, I moved to America with my husband and started a new chapter of my life.
6. Could you tell us a bit about your family and their reaction to your acting in the film?
Harpreet: Certainly! I’m blessed with a loving husband, Dr. Gursharn Dosanjh, and two wonderful daughters and a son. They take great pride in my role in “Laung Da Lishkara” and often boast about it to their friends.

8. Do you follow current Punjabi cinema? Any favorite artists?
Harpreet: I do watch Punjabi movies occasionally. I’ve always been a fan of Dharam Ji (Dharmendra). Among the current crop of artists, I find Gurpreet Ghuggi to be a very talented actor, and Diljit is doing some great work.
