On Saturday, Punjab Police claimed to have arrested a close aide of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi who arranged hideouts for the murderers of singer Sidhu Moosewala.
According to Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav, Mandeep Singh alias Chotta Mani was arrested along with an accomplice, Jatinder Singh of Gobindpura Mohalla in Manimajra. Two pistols along with 12 live cartridges were also recovered from them. A source informed the Police about the presence of Chotta Mani in the Zirakpur area, following which teams of Punjab Police’s Anti-Gangster Task Force traced him and arrested him along with an associate.
Both the accused were actively working for Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar gangs and have a criminal history. Cases of attempt to murder, extortion, robbery and those under the Arms Act are registered against them in Chandigarh and Haryana shared the DGP.
Furthermore, the DGP stated that initial investigation revealed that the accused had been entrusted by their handlers who were situated abroad to carry out specific murders of rival criminals. According to Assistant Inspector General Sandeep Goel, Bishnoi sent Chotta Mani to Dubai three times in order to support his safe entry into Europe because he wanted to help him settle abroad. But the officer stated that Chotta Mani had to return to India after failing to get access into Europe.
