The winners of prestigious National Film Awards were recently announced. This time the celebration has to be even more special as Punjabi film starring Sonam Bajwa, Tania, Gitaj Bindrakhia and Gurjaaz, Godday Godday Chaa has won the National Award for Best Punjabi Film. Released in 2023, the film was directed by Vijay Kumar Arora and written by Jagdeep Sidhu.
In an official statement shared, Sonam Bajwa said, “Winning the National Award for Best Punjabi Film for Godday Godday Chaa is a truly humbling and special feeling! The film received so much love at the box office, and now, to be recognised at the national level is a blessing.”
She further added, “I’ll continue being part of both commercial and path-breaking cinema in Punjabi and Hindi. That’s what gives me a real high as an actor- being part of stories that entertain, engage, and are celebrated by both audiences and the nation.”
Furthermore, she also took to her Instagram to react on the big win. She wrote, “Truly humbling to receive the National Film Award for Best Punjabi Film #GoddayGoddayCha. So grateful for all the people who worked on this film and made this film happen, and for the audiences for appreciating the film and our efforts in it and now receiving the National Film Award is truly a blessing and one of the biggest rewards, thank you.”
Meanwhile, Tania who has been going through a rough patch in her personal life after the brutal attack on her father also reacted to the honor. She expressed, “In one of the toughest phase of life, where me and my family can no longer tell the difference in day&night and a full month has been passed. Today i got the news that our film “Godday Godday Chaa” won “NATIONAL AWARD” as “The Best Punjabi Film”. Tears again!!!….but these ones were of JOY…. Immensely grateful . God has been really kind. Congratulations to the whole team.”
“My next project, which is too close to my heart and i believe my best till now “Phaphey Kuttniyan” has my deep attachment with it. I am super excited for this upcoming one and i’m fully trying to come back to work as soon as things come back to their right places.
