Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann recently met Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat’s family following her disqualification in Paris Olympics 2024. After meeting, he suggested that the wrestler could’ve cut her hair to reach the desired weight. “Her hair alone may have weighed 200 grams,” he remarked.
Criticising the coaching staff for the incident, Mann, who visited Phogat’s family in Haryana, questioned, “What is 100 grams or 50 grams (overweight)? A mistake has taken place at such a level. What are the physiotherapists and coaches there for? They take salaries in lakhs. What have they gone to do there? Have they gone there to roam around?” he asked.
“We would have won a gold. I watched the last match at night,” he added.
