Reports were doing the rounds on the internet stating Pakistani singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan being arrested at Dubai airport. However, soon after the reports reached the singer, he shared a video on his social media handle and denied reports of him being arrested, asking his followers not to pay heed to such news.
The singer’s clarification came after Pakistani media reported that he was arrested in Dubai over a defamation complaint by his former manager.
Rahat was in Dubai for a musical collaboration. The reports claimed he was detained at the immigration centre and taken into police custody for questioning. It was being reported that Rahat’s former manager, Ahmed, had submitted complaints against him to the Dubai authorities.
According to the report, Rahat dismissed Ahmed a few months ago following a dispute and the duo filed cases against each other.
The singer later released a video on his Instagram handle, asking people not to believe in reports of his arrest. “I came to Dubai to record a song. Some malicious reports are circulating about my arrest. Please do not believe them.”
