Raunak Review – KableOne OTT
Raunak isn’t just a film, it’s an emotional ride that mixes pind vibes with family drama and dard–bhare twists. Jas Grewal’s direction brings to screen the story of a young orphaned girl who works as a domestic helper in a wealthy household. Her bond with little Resham feels like family, but life quickly reminds her of the “line” between belonging and being an outsider. What follows is a journey of betrayal, sacrifice, and the desperate need for love and acceptance.
What Shines
Emotion Te Dil Jeeteya
The film hits hard on the theme of betrayal within families. The longing of the orphan helper to find a place in someone’s heart is something that tugs at your soul.Bachiyan Di Magic
The child actors are pure gold. Their innocence, confusion, and tears bring authenticity that makes the drama cut deeper.Punjabi Touch & Music
The rootedness in Punjabi culture gives Raunak its flavour. Jaidev Kumar’s music, especially Yaar Bawara sung by Jyotica Tangri, stays with you even after the credits roll.Visuals
No unnecessary gloss. Simple frames — silences, meals, tears — captured beautifully, making them stronger than words.
Where It Falters
- Predictability- Kujh twists pehlan hi samajh aa jande ne. The “seen it before” playbook takes away the shock factor, making parts of the story easy to guess.
- Pacing – The film lingers a little too much in the middle. Thoda chhota kar dinde, the story would have hit harder.
- Side Characters – Leads te child actors shine, but kuchh supporting roles lagde half-baked. Their motivations could’ve been explored deeper for a bigger punch.
- Gurbani Sequence – The sudden Gurbani background in one scene felt distracting and out of sync with the film’s overall pace.
- Yellow Haveli Scene – Visually bold, but thoda over-dramatic lagda for a film that otherwise sticks to realism.
Performances
Arvinder Kaur, Rajwinder, Jassi Jaspreet, Malkeet Rauni, Rupinder Rupi, Gurpreet Bhangu — all deliver honest performances that land. But the child artists truly steal the spotlight, adding raw innocence and heartbreak that stays with you.
Verdict
Raunak is not flawless, but it has its heart in the right place. It’s emotional, sincere, and soaked in Punjabi cultural texture. If you enjoy slow-burn family dramas with soul, this one deserves a watch. Download KableOne to watch Raunak now!
