Though his family hails from Punjab’s Doaba region, Tejveer and his parents have been settled in Abu Dhabi for decades. They also have business interests in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Canada.
The wedding celebrations began on February 10 with a sangeet ceremony at The Trident, Gurugram, where Bollywood singer Mika Singh performed. The wedding took place at the Badals’ residence in Sultanpur, New Delhi, on Feb 12.
Several prominent political figures including Union ministers Piyush Goyal and Nitin Gadkari, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, BJP MP Anurag Thakur, and BJP leader Arvind Khanna were seen gracing the special occasion.
Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav attended with his family, while the Chautalas of Haryana were also present. Former Haryana deputy CM Digvijay Singh Chautala was seen with his father, Ajay Chautala, while Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) chief Abhay Chautala also attended.
At the sangeet ceremony, Sukhbir was seen dancing alongside his brother-in-law, Bikram Singh Majithia, while the bride and groom also joined in, enjoying Mika’s songs on Monday evening.
Wedding celebrations had started about a month ago when Sukhbir Badal officially announced his daughter’s wedding. The bhog of an Akhand Path was organised at his native village, Badal, on January 12, followed by a jago ceremony at his house in the village, where singer Afsana Khan performed. Harkirat is the eldest of Sukhbir and Harsimrat Kaur Badal’s three children.
