Wamiqa Gabbi’s grandmother has passed away. The actress recently took to her social media handle and dropped a video along with a poignant note in her remembrance. The video encapsulated several endearing and happy moments of her grandmother with the actress and her family.
In the post, Wamiqa expressed, “My naani, who’s the OG green eyed girl left her body and entered a new world a few weeks back. She was always very much acceptable of everything. I’m sure thats what life taught her in order to be in peace. She was very acceptable of deaths around her. She told us that she used to ask her ailing husband everyday if he saw ‘vadde maharaj’ in his dreams and the day he did, she started making arrangements for him as she knew its time for nanaji to leave. This felt very spooky to me when I heard this and very very spiritual at the same time.”
“I often wondered how she’d feel about her own death and to my surprise, years later when she started to not keep very well, she started talking about death in such an accepting way. Now because she was not keeping well, my father convinced her to visit me in Bombay with mom and daadi. It was first time ever that she flew in a plane and her first time witnessing the vastness of an ocean as she had spent all her life in Punjab. She and my daadi went to the beach every day for 15 days. I often requested her to promise me to visit Bombay again but she would always reply with a very factual smile and say , ‘Na na, hunn te rabb kol hi chale jana, Bambai aaun da time ni milna hunn’,” she further added.
She continues by writing, “She just knew. She embraced death like how she embraced life. Her laughter was always infectious. I learned how to smile and laugh whole heartedly from her and my mom. Zaada socho mat, bass hass lo. Best thing I learned from anyone in my life. She is the reason why my mom and I have green eyes and her presence is the reason why our lives became so beautiful and will always remain like that. I understood the importance of acceptance and constantly work on becoming more n more accepting of life.
Wow! Grandparents are truly close to God. Angels ✨🤍”
“See you on the other side Naaniji, changga fer, Radhaaswami,” she wrote on a concluding note.
